Keeping Raisin Bran Busy: A Day in the Life of Neat Freak Tech's Pup in Chief

Starting up a new business and working from home with a 16-week-old golden retriever puppy like Raisin Bran and a 3-year-old golden like Blueberry Rascal is a lesson in multitasking, patience, and strategic distraction.

As the latest member of the Neat Freak Tech team, Raisin is all about energy, curiosity, and, of course, chewing on anything within paw’s reach—like my desk cables, laptop cords, and the occasional book. But with the right toys, I’ve managed to keep him and Blue happily occupied and away from my tech, all while staying productive. Here’s how I do it:

First up is the 2-pack of wishbone chew toys. These have been Blue’s go-to for a long time. I get the puppy version for Raisin's sharp little puppy teeth! They are tough, durable, and keep him busy so that my cables remain intact. Plus, it’s a lifesaver when I’m deep in a project and need him to entertain himself for a bit.

Next up, the chuckit balls. These balls are a hit in my work-from-home house—not just because they float in water, but because Raisin and Blue can breathe around them when they get hot. Whether we’re playing fetch in the backyard or cooling off in the water, this ball is our go-to. I actually get them as a monthly subscribe-and-save order, so I'm never without a fresh one!!

Let's talk treats because, honestly, Raisin Bran and Blueberry Rascal would have it no other way! These Bocce's treats are a game-changer. When I pull out the bag, both dogs start drooling instantly. These soft, chewy cookies are shaped like a "B," which is perfect because I can split one in half and share it between the two. I stumbled upon Bocce's Bakery somehow, and now, they can't get enough of the flavors. These treats are a monthly must-have, keeping Raisin and Blueberry super motivated (and super happy) throughout the day. They also love the Bac'n Nutty and Say Moo flavors!

This is one of my favorite things to keep Raisin Bran and Blueberry Rascal happy and occupied. These dog lick bowls are BRILLIANT! They are interactive toys that keep the puppies occupied while giving me some much-needed computer time. I fill these with everything from peanut butter to applesauce, even plain greek yogurt. Not a day goes by without using these bowls, and when Blue's brother Butter comes to stay, he brings his own so each dog has one! These are perfect for a mid-day activity and a great way to keep the pups busy and content.

Goldens like Blue & Ray are known for scarfing down food like it's a race. I love these bowls so much - it is a fun design and helps them slow down (even if just a little). It's dishwasher-safe which is key because their dog bowls can get pretty grimy!

Keeping Blue Ray Happy and My Workspace Safe

These toys have become essential for keeping Raisin Bran and Blue busy, happy, and away from my desk cables!! They help channel their energy into play and ensure they stick by me, waiting for their next treat and next photo op! :) If you’re a fellow dog-loving small business owner, I highly recommend giving these toys a try. Your pup—and your office—will thank you!

Pro Tip: Always have a rotation of toys ready. Just like humans, pups can get bored with the same old thing, so keeping things fresh helps maintain their interest and keeps them happily by your side.
